The main objective of the Beam Trawl is to sample a bottom during a drifting tow.
  • The beam trawl is shaped like a bag that is derived from the dredge and is designed to be dragged along the bottom. 
  • It is attached to a rigid
    frame
    heavily weighted in
    stainless steel

    aluminum
  • This frame defines the horizontal and vertical opening. Chains in front of the net lift the prey. 
  • Used for plaice, sole, shrimp.
  • Can be easily used with a very small boat.
