RMT Net (Rectangle Mid-Water Trawl)

Market: Experimental & Scientific Research
Product type: Plankton Net
Applications: Lac Sampling, Ocean sampling, Vertical water sampling, Plastic sampling, Horizontal water sampling
Lead time: Made upon order
The main purpose of the RMT Net is to perform a double sampling of zooplankton and nekton on two superimposed strata
  • The RMT (Rectangle Mid-Water) net is a sophisticated sampler used to study the vertical distribution of plankton and nekton.
  • The large size of the gear and its features improve the catch efficiency of several species.
  • There are several models, with one or two nets of different dimensions.
  • The opening is usually asymmetrical in the vertical direction (the top being more advanced than the bottom).
  • 3 standard models exist, including:
  1. RMT1: top net with an opening of 1m² with a
size of 335 microns used to catch mesozooplankton
  2. RMT8: top net with an opening of 8m² and a
size of 5 mm for the capture of macroplankton
  3. RMT25: top net with an opening of 25m² and a
size of 5 mm, used to catch mesopelagic fish

Lifespan: Average Lifespan: 5 to 10 years
Complexity: Installation Complexity: Quick and easy installation that requires a minimum of two (2) people
Local Product: Product made by hand in Quebec
Warranty: Lifetime warranty covering manufacturing defaults
Maintenance: Dry after each use
Manufacture details: Ideal for capturing phytoplankton (smaller than 80 microns), zooplankton (60 to 600 microns) and other micro-organisms (500 to 5000 microns)
The net is made of ultra-strong and extremely precise
. We have over 60 options of filtration
sizes varying from 1 to 5000 microns
The net mouth and and tail are reinforced with non-treated Cordura
1000 deniers on which
are added (net mouth) and a clamping device (net tail) to hold onto the
. Every seam is reinforced with 3/4in webbing to guarantee a ultra strong net
It is possible to add a chocking band on the net which if formed by passing a rope through small
stainless steel
rings sown within the net, thus allowing the user to close the net during operation
For nets with a diameter larger than 100cm, extra reinforced webbing is added on the lenght of the net to maximise it's structural integrity
Material: Precision Filtration
